"Light at the End of the Tunnel" finished artwork & some of its Whimsies

"LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL".

This image has so much going on that it didn't need any extra textures  or fanciness. It's the kind of artwork that art show judges would like. It also made some terrific Whimsies!

Color Grid from Square Pastel Box project

Square Box Color Grid
When I sort out and organize my pastel boxes, I make these grids to compare this piece of pastel with that one, to eliminate duplicates and near duplicates.
I like to make art with whatever I'm doing, so I make these color grids.

This Color Grid is from my most indulgent box of pastels, the Square Box. Not only is the box itself square, but all the pastels are square or rectangular - NuPastels, Terry Ludwigs, Great American, and so on. I prefer these shapes for the clear variety of strokes sizes they can make, and for their sharp edges.

A thing of beauty, and at least one small part of my life is organized. Can I count this as a resolution fulfilled?

Same pastels, rotated a quarter turn. taken under a bright easel light. A good reminder that photos can tell all kinds of tales, and so can light.

Bottles Behind Bars -
"The Original"

Bottles at bars with lights. Great combo!

I've been using Camera360 more and more. I especially like the way it saves the original information, so you can change the filter over and over. "The Original" uses several different filters, combined with Blender. I also used Retouch, Noise Master, Auto Adjust, and I forget what all else.

Catch of the Day -- Blind Diner Abstract

5/27/2013

Brunch at the Silver Diner. The sun was coming through the blinds and reflecting off the marbleized counter top. I love taking blind pictures, there's something about the alternating stripes of light and shadow playing with all they fall on. This was made with several different filters and four layers.

Catch of the Day - Fractured Heart

"Fractured Heart"

The iris are so spectacular, but bloom for such a short time. I try to resist taking more pictures (I have about 20,000 from last year that I haven't even processed the first time), but there's something about iris that just gets to me. Maybe it's all those ruffles. Maybe it's the beards. This one has been fractured and reconstructed.

when Dick Tracy had to make do with a two-way wrist radio.
