Digital art is best seen as it was created, in the form of light. Much of my production has this end in mind - as part of a collection of slowly changing images on a big wall screen.

The space here is borrowed from the Amazing Architecture site, the architect is Reza Mohtashami. They show amazing resident structures, but very few have ANY paintings on the walls. They ALL  have a big screen in the main space.

Shogun Cabbage
 The Final Version of "Shogun", 2nd Cabbage Whimsy Poll winner. This one gave me a lot of resistance. I like to put in rich textures that make the large versions more interesting, but the Whimsies didn't like it. So this one is a compromise. The more complex textured version made a lot of little Whimsies, but few big ones. You can see some of those wee Whimsies when you zoom in and look along the center lines.

The Whimsies often use only a portion of the original, so the first thing I do to the winners is to optimize them for Whimsy production. I like to increase the resolution and add interesting textures and details that make the Whimsy Creatures more interesting.

A multi-program and multi-process artwork from the Cabbages series.
It takes a long time to construct these artworks, but that's the fun part. Here's a bit about how go about it.

  This is the original source for the entire White caps family, chosen for it's strong diagonal composition and high contrast color scheme. Plus it has a cool row of spots. 

  This image, taken with an iPhone 4,  has evolved  a very large family

  You can see I completely rebuilt the entire left side, using manipulated  pieces from other parts of the image, or from other images from the same photo shoot. The upper left backgound leaf is derived from the upper right one. The left lobe of the central group is derived from the Center one. The square version is partly cropped, partly reconfigured from the long version.
